GoServ Global Helps Hurricane Harvey victims in Houston
GoServ Global is partnering with Service International to provide help to the people of Houston following Hurricane Harvey. GoServ Global Domestic Director Dennis Anderson & crew spent yesterday gutting & cleaning two homes that had 3 to 4 feet of water in them.
Earlier this week, the Garner (Iowa) community “Stuffed the Bus” with needed supplies for Hurricane Harvey victims. Several businesses in town collected items, and all the school kids at GHV held various fundraisers that raised a total of $3,437 for hurricane relief!! Huge thanks to GoServ Global Ambassador Deb Schmidt for helping organize the project!
There is still time to help with Hurricane Harvey. You may give at https://goservglobal.org/give/ and choose “Hurricane Harvey” in the dropdown.
To volunteer, call Dennis Anderson at (712)887-0862.

Focus on the Safe T Home
100% of the 200 Safe T Homes® – engineered by Sukup Manufacturing – withstood Hurricane Matthew in Haiti – with winds up to 145 mph! Only 10% of the traditional homes in the area remained after the hurricane.
“Because Haiti is a country of natural disasters, people have in their minds that their homes are temporary,” shared Eddy, GoServ Global’s Haiti Director. “But, the Safe T Home has changed the mindset of the people, so not only are they living in safe homes, they are also living with peace inside of them.”
Safe T Home Facts:
•Double roof reflects heat – it’s 10 degrees cooler inside the home
•Houses up to 10 people in a standard 18-foot unit that includes a loft
•Suitable dwelling after a disaster or as permanent housing
•Can be built in a few hours with simple hand tools
Safe T Home Costs:
1 Home = $5,700
Shipping & Concrete Floor for 1 Home = $1,300
Total = $7,000

Donations Transform Bethel Orphanage
When Hurricane Matthew hit Haiti nearly one year ago, Bethel Orphanage was hit hard, making the lone building unlivable.
Thanks to your support, GoServ Global has built 4 Safe T Homes, a kitchen, bathroom facilities with showers, a gazebo, installed solar panels for power, and dug a well.

La Brise Community Impacted by Hurricane Matthew Relief in Haiti
One of the communities most impacted by your donation dollars is the community of La Brise, an extremely poor, small fishing village in Haiti, wiped out by Hurricane Matthew nearly one year ago.
Thanks to your support, GoServ Global built 15 Safe T Homes in this community!
“There aren’t words to describe the gratitude of those receiving homes,” shared Ken DeYoung, GoServ Global Co-Founder.
By meeting the physical needs of La Brise, doors were open to share the love of Christ and good news of salvation.
During the dedication celebration this summer, families received a bucket of needed items and a bible. Many accepted Christ during the uplifting dedication service. As more and more community members learn about Jesus and read their bibles, a church is now being built in La Brise!
“It is so exciting to watch the Lord work in ways my mind would think impossible,” says Ken. “We have a God that loves to work in impossible ways!”

New Church Plant in Haiti
Three years ago, Pastor Rivenson of the Centre de Vie Church in Les Cayes, Haiti led several street concerts up in the mountains of Camp Perrin where GoServ Global’s John 3:16 Village is located. Many people came to Christ and a seed was planted to start a church in the area since there were none around.
This past weekend, the Centre de Vie Church Plant held its first service in the new church! The whole weekend was a celebration of what God has done as Pastor Rivenson helped lead several street concerts on Friday and Saturday in Camp Perrin. God is so good!

GoServ Global’s Response to Hurricane Harvey
Part of the mission of GoServ Global is to “Share God’s love by responding to disaster”, as we have done many times in the last six years. Hurricane Harvey, which recently battered southeast Texas with torrential rains, presents another opportunity for GoServ Global’s amazing volunteers and donors to respond with God’s love once again.
The devastation from the flooding in Houston and surrounding areas is truly catastrophic due to more than 50 inches of rain. Pictures and videos I have seen show widespread flooding and damage, and I am expecting recovery efforts to last many months.
A common response is for relief teams to immediately converge on the disaster area. This can be counterproductive. Relief efforts will not be able to start in earnest until the flood waters recede and the experts have a chance to better assess where the relief efforts are most needed and what those relief efforts should consist of.
GoServ Global is currently assessing the situation to determine our best response. We want to ensure that we meet both spiritual and emotional needs, as well as, physical needs. And we want to seek God’s direction on what is going to be the best way to share His love.
We have begun contacting people we know in the Houston area who will be able to tell us what the greatest needs will be. Our action plan for disaster relief will depend on the information we receive from those in the immediate affected areas. Among some of the actions we are considering include the following:
- Sending a disaster relief team to the Houston area
- Collecting donations of food and other dry goods as we have a volunteer who is willing to drive a semi load of supplies to Houston
- Accepting donations of money to establish a Hurricane Harvey disaster relief fund
As we formulate a plan, we will be communicating that to you with another update. In the meantime, we ask you to pray for GoServ Global as we make relief plans and ask you begin to consider how you might be able to assist with the disaster relief efforts.
If you feel called to donate, please visit https://goservglobal.org/give/ & Choose “Hurricane Harvey” in the dropdown.
