Irrational Hatred: Luke 21:16-19
“16) But you will be betrayed even by parents and brothers and relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death, 17) and you will be hated by all because of My name. 18) Yet not a hair of your head will perish. 19) By your endurance you will gain your lives.” Luke‬ ‭21‬:‭16‬-‭19‬
Jesus foretold that one of the signs of the end will be an irrational hatred of both the Jewish nation and born-again Christians. I want to stress the concept of “irrational hatred.” It often has no explanation.
He said that in many cases, this persecution will come from family members. In some cases, this irrational hatred will cause family members to be put to death by family members.
According to revelation 12:12-17, this irrational hatred will be aimed against the nation of Israel and born again Christians. It is a sobering fact that there have been more martyrs for the gospel in the past 100 years than all of church history combined.
Historically, Islam has been behind this hatred, but in the past 100 years, it has been joined by communism and secular humanism. The thing to note according to the Bible is that this irrational hatred is demonically driven. The kingdom of darkness is actively promoting this hatred.
I take the statement of not being harmed as referring to eternal life. According to revelation chapter 7, God has a special place for the martyrs.
Over the past few decades, a phenomenon has developed; Israel and born-again Christians are becoming allies because of this mutual hatred. This trend has increased exponentially in recent years.
Jesus emphasize that this irrational hatred would be a sign of the end times. This phenomenon is unfolding quickly in our days.
