Viewing Jesus as a Friend: Luke 12:4
““4) I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that have no more that they can do.” Luke 12:4
I want to deal briefly with a subject mentioned in passing in this verse. As He was speaking to His disciples, Jesus called them “friends.” Suddenly all the dynamics of friendship apply to our relationship with Jesus.
Yes, He is Master and Lord, but He is also “friend.” I can honestly say, “He is my best friend.”
As you move forward in your relationship with Jesus Christ, start moving toward friendship. Tear down all walls between you and build trust. Talk to Him about everything. Walk with Him.
But most important, view this as a reciprocal relationship. In this verse, it was Jesus who applied the word “friends” to His disciples.
There is a profound truth in this verse, Jesus wants to be our friend. Don’t let this concept escape your notice in this verse.
Start using the word “friend” in your vocabulary about Jesus. It adds love and tenderness to fear and reverence. It closes the relational gap.
