Happy Resurrection Day: Matthew 28:5-7
“5) The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. 6) He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying. 7) Go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead; and behold, He is going ahead of you into Galilee, there you will see Him; behold, I have told you.”” Matthew 28:5-7
Happy Resurrection Day! I don’t get caught up in the debate of the exact date or timing of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ, I simply celebrate the historical fact of the biblical account. I praise God that Jesus was indeed the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world (John 1:29), and that He fulfilled the Law so as to be the innocent Passover Lamb. (Matthew 5:17-18)
I furthermore, do not call this day by the name of the ancient pagan holiday complete with an idol, a rabbit and eggs, I call it what it really is: “Happy Resurrection Day.” It is an historical fact: Jesus Christ was crucified for our sins, buried and risen from the dead on the third day victorious over sin and death. (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) He gives new life to those who believe in Him.
Faith in Him has set me free from my sinful past, ushered me into newness of life and filled me with the Holy Spirit. (Romans 6:4) Old things have passed away… all things have become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17) Because of Resurrection Day… all who truly believe in Him are Born-Again!
Happy Resurrection Day!
