Embrace Sound Teaching: Hebrews 13:9
“9) Do not be carried away by varied and strange teachings; for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, through which those who were so occupied were not benefited.” Hebrews 13:9
Keep your focus on Jesus Christ and sound teaching. Do not be carried away by varied and strange teaching. Many start well only to abandon grace in exchange for some new form of legalism.
Some think they are better because they eat or refrain from some kind of food. Others keep a certain day, holiday or festival. It’s amazing how externals can displace grace and simple faith in Christ.
I have no problem with good nutrition, healthy eating, regular exercise and positive habits. I try to build good physical disciplines into my own life. The key is not to equate it with spirituality or gaining special merit with God.
It is easy to replace the gospel of grace with a list of do’s and do nots. If we are not careful we can become Christan Pharisees. Instead of Jesus being our focus, we can create a new form of legalism. We can stray from truth and grace.
