God Speaking Through His Son: Hebrews 1:2
“1) God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, 2) in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.” Hebrews 1:1-2
Let me make a simple observation. The Bible is broken into two parts. We call them the Old Testament and the New Testament. With this in mind, read the above two verses again. Next to Hebrews 1:1 you can write “Old Testament.” Next to Hebrews 1:2 you can write “New Testament.”
The New Testament is all about God speaking to humanity through His Son, Jesus Christ. The book of Hebrews goes on to peel back the revelation of Jesus Christ layer by layer until the reader is left with an astounding discovery; Jesus Christ is not only the Son of God, He pre-existed time and was in fact the Creator.
He was active throughout the Old Testament. Every type, symbol, pattern in the tabernacle and temple, festival, holiday, priestly office, prophecy and ultimately the Jewish calendar itself points to Him. Even the Law itself points to the redemptive work of Jesus Christ.
2 Corinthians 3:14-18 explains what happens whenever a Jewish person turns to the Lord. The Holy Spirit takes the veil away. The Old Testament suddenly comes alive with high definition technicolor revelation of Jesus Christ.
Make no mistake, “in these last days God has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom He also made the world.” Get ready for the book of Hebrews to take away the veil. Get ready for God to speak to you through His Son.
