Introduction to the Book of Hebrews: Hebrews 1:1-2
“1) God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, 2) in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.” Hebrews 1:1-2 NASB
We now come to the book of Hebrews. By its very name, this book was a Gospel apologetic to the Jewish nation. It was written to present the case of Jesus Christ to Jewish people.
Though we are not certain of the human author, he was an expert in Old Testament history, the Law and all of the festivals and holidays of the Jewish people.
The case presented in this book shows that Jesus Christ was Creator God and fulfilled every type, image, example and illustration in the Old Testament. Jesus Christ is indeed the fulfillment of the Law and all the prophesies in the Old Testament.
I must confess, I approach the book of Hebrews with humility. I am not an authority on Judaism and have much to learn from Messianic believers.
Having given an appropriate disclaimer, I absolutely love the book of Hebrews. It ties the Old and New Testaments together as no other book in the Bible. Stay tuned as we launch into a daily study of the book of Hebrews for the next several months.
