The Love Mind Game: Romans 8:31-34
“31) What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? 32) He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? 33) Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies; 34) who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.” Romans 8:31-34
One of the mind games Satan plays on people is trying to convince them that God does not love them or that He is against them. This is true of both Christians and nonChristians.
From the time the serpent appeared in the garden to tempt Eve, he aimed his assault at the character and nature of God. In Genesis 3:2 he questioned the word of God and in Genesis 3:5 he questioned the motive of God. His goal was to plant seeds of doubt about God. He has done the same throughout human history. He works overtime to distort people’s view of God.
In Romans 8:31-34, Paul was making the case that God is for us and not against us. In demonstration of His love, He went so far as to give His Only Son to redeem us from our sin. He does not stand against us to condemn us; to the contrary He provided the way to forgive and save us.
I guarantee that you will wrestle with Gods love and acceptance of you. Rather than accepting His unconditional love by faith, you will enter a game of trying to earn His love and approval. The problem with this game is that the rules are based on self effort, and we as people are destined to fail and fall short.
Spend time with the above text and the balance of Romans 8 until the truth sinks in! When you put your faith in Jesus Christ to save you by His work on the cross, nothing can ever separate you from His love. You are wrapped and sealed in His unwavering Agape love.
