Kingdom Living: Luke 12:29-32
“29) And do not seek what you will eat and what you will drink, and do not keep worrying. 30) For all these things the nations of the world eagerly seek; but your Father knows that you need these things. 31)But seek His kingdom, and these things will be added to you. 32) Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom.” Luke 12:29-32
Worry and anxiety often relates to things God is responsible for in our lives. It is a display of a lack of faith in Him.
In this case it relates to food and clothing. All the nations seek for these things, but our God promises to care for His own. He is the Provider for His people.
This blessing is part of “Kingdom Life.” When we seek Him and His Kingdom first, He promises to go before us and take care of our needs.
Notice, He calls us His little flock. This places us in the promises of Psalm 23 and John 10. He is our Shepherd, we shall not want. He assumes responsibility for us.
The greatest miracle of the Old Testament was God taking care of His people for 40 years in the wilderness. Their daily menu was manna and quail. Their clothing did not wear out and their shoe did not fall apart.
We are not talking about a survival trip for a handful of people. They numbered over a million people. That’s a recipe for disaster. But God assumed responsibility for them.
Read Psalm 78:52; “But He led forth His own people like sheep And guided them in the wilderness like a flock.” By contrast, it did not go well for Egypt and the surrounding nations.
You and I have a choice. We can be preoccupied seeking things and wealth, or we can focus on seeking God and His Kingdom.
If God is not your shepherd, you have every reason to worry. He does not assume responsibility for the nations or people who do not belong to Him. They are the responsibly of their god.
If your god is self, you also have reason for worry and stress. Honestly, people are weak and pathetic. People have limited control over the forces of life. Have you ever tried to control the weather?
So you have a choice between seeking God or all other options. I choose to seek God and His righteousness. I choose to walk in His kingdom and embrace all benefits of Him being my God and King. Fear and anxiety have no bases to torment me. I live by faith and not fear!
