God is Speaking: Psalm 19:1-6
“1) The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands. 2) Day to day pours forth speech, And night to night reveals knowledge. 3) There is no speech, nor are there words; Their voice is not heard. 4) Their line has gone out through all the earth, And their utterances to the end of the world. In them He has placed a tent for the sun, 5) Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber; It rejoices as a strong man to run his course. 6) Its rising is from one end of the heavens, And its circuit to the other end of them; And there is nothing hidden from its heat.” Psalms 19:1-6
The Bible opens in Genesis 1:1 with God creating the heavens and the earth. With verse two, the focus shifts to planet earth. This world truly is a special place.
And yet the heavens are often referenced in the Bible. Psalms 19:1-6 is an example. David says that the heavens declare the glory of God. Their expanse speaks of His mighty power.
The universe has always been a mystery to mankind. The James Webb Space Telescope is the largest telescope ever placed in orbit. It is challenging everything previously known about the universe. Why?
The heavens have a story to tell about the majesty of God. It alone contains the fingerprint of God. Yet He holds the whole universe in the palm of His hand. He is so much greater than the sum total of what He created.
And yet the universe has order, design and beauty. It is a reflection of the nature of the Creator. It exposes the small and flawed knowledge of man. It makes foolish the wisdom of men. (1 Corinthians 1:20-31)
By the way, the book of 1 Corinthians ends by speaking of the mystery that God is preparing glorious heavenly bodies for believers. (1 Corinthians 15:48-49) I can only imagine!
When this Psalm is studied in a modern context, it exposes the bias of what is often revered as “science.” Contrary to the critics, there is no tension between science and the Bible.
The timing of the recent release of the book; “Return of the God Hypothesis”, by Stephen C. Meyer is more than coincidental corresponding to data from the James Webb Telescope. He makes the case every branch of science today, including astronomy is pointing to “God.” All of creation points to the existence of a Creator. It can no longer be ignored.
I encourage anyone seeking for truth to study the Bible, look at the created realm (Romans 1:19-20), and read through the book; “Return of the God Hypothesis.” It will shock you!
God is constantly speaking through the Bible, the heavens, every branch of science in the created realm and the simple gospel. He has left a witness of Himself everywhere. The real problem is that people are willfully blind and dull of hearing.
