The Promise of the Holy Spirit from the Father: Acts 1:4-5
“4) Gathering them together, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised, “Which,” He said, “you heard of from Me; 5) for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”” Acts‬ ‭1‬:‭4‬-‭5‬
The promise of the Father is what separates the Old Testament from the New Testament. Because the ministry of the Holy Spirit is so important, Satan blinds Christians to the many Scriptures about the Spirit filled life.
If he cannot prevent a person from becoming a Christian, he will double down his effort to keep them from growing as a Christian. He actively blinds people from understanding the ministry of the Holy Spirit. I have seen Christians literally “zone out” during study’s about the Holy Spirit. Satan is actively blinding them to this crucial subject.
What is our recourse? We are going to take our time and study this subject in depth by looking at many Scriptures about the New Testament promise of the Holy Spirit.
I trust you are ready for a life changing study. I am going to start by providing many references from the Old Testament about the coming ministry of the Holy Spirit. Please take your time and read every Scripture. We could call these “The Promise from the Father.”
Isaiah 11:1-3 Isaiah 32:15 Isaiah 44:3 Ezekiel 39:29 Joel 2:28-29 Zechariah 12:10 Acts 1:3-5 Luke 24:49 Acts 2:33; 38-39
These nine references are a key sample of the promise of the Holy Spirit from the Father. The walk in the Spirit must be very crucial for the Father to promise it this many times.
