Become a Good Neighbor: Proverbs 3:28-31
“28) Do not say to your neighbor, “Go, and come back, And tomorrow I will give it,” When you have it with you. 29) Do not devise harm against your neighbor, While he lives securely beside you. 30) Do not contend with a man without cause, If he has done you no harm.” Proverbs 3:28-30
Develop positive relations with your neighbors. Treat them with honesty and fairness. Serve them whenever you can. Be ready to help in times of need.
The Bible talks a lot about taking care of your neighbors. This is the backdrop to the story of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10:25-37.
Sadly, developing a sense of community and good will with neighbors is a lost art in much of the modern world. How is it built?
Study the book of Proverbs and apply the golden rule as taught by Jesus in Luke 6:27-38. As you want others to treat you, prime the pump and treat them with love first.
There still are places in the world where people don’t lock doors and neighbors take care of each other. If you live in a place like that, don’t take it for granted. Learn to be a good neighbor.
