Gods Wisdom Manifest in Creation: Proverbs 3:19-20
“19) The Lord by wisdom founded the earth, By understanding He established the heavens. 20) By His knowledge the deeps were broken up And the skies drip with dew. Proverbs‬ ‭3‬:‭19‬-‭20‬ ‭
The wisdom and knowledge God employed to bring about the work of creation is a reoccurring theme in the book of Proverbs. It appears again in chapter eight.
Creation illustrates the depths of Gods wisdom, understanding and knowledge. He created the entire universe. He created billions of galaxies filled with stars and solar systems. He created the atom and all physical matter.
He created the Laws of Physics. He created black holes and black matter. He knows thoroughly what modern science merely speculates about.
He created life with millions of symbiotic relationships. He created DNA. He also created germs, bacteria and viruses. He then created a vast number of plants to help combat sickness, infection and diseases. In “His ways” are hidden the answers for all sickness and disease.
Science is only possible because God put order, design and beauty in everything He created. All things follow His laws, order and design. Nothing is random. What modern scientists make up theories to explain, God holds as elementary.
Charles Einstein was credited by saying about the Creator, “Mysterious He is, cruel He is not.” He was implying that the Laws of Physics are not random; man’s knowledge is merely limited.
This is where the omniscience and omnipotence of God are displayed in creation. He not only knows all things, He has the power to do all things. He also has the wisdom not to mess things up.
It is man’s arrogance and utter ignorance that is polluting the world, tampering with and jeopardizing our food source, creating bombs of mass destruction and playing god with weather patterns and the environment. Man ought not to be manipulating what he doesn’t fully understand.
The human experts often get it wrong. Such was the marvel of DDT that was intended to kill mosquitos but nearly brought the extinction of many species. Its tragic error was discovered and removed just before the worst environmental disaster in human history unfolded. Many species are just now starting to recover. We should learn from our tragic past.
The same irony holds true for the fact that many of the so called “toxic weeds” we are spending billions to eradicate with poisonous herbicides, have more nutritional value and potential to feed the world than our patented GMO’s. These so called “weeds” were meticulously cultivated and sustained human civilization for many millenniums with no side effects like cancer. Modern civilization now views them as enemies.
In this sense, I am becoming a naturalist when it comes to trusting God’s original design and purpose in what He created. His infinite knowledge, wisdom and power created earth within our solar system as an environment for life to thrive and flourish. I trust His design even though modern science driven by profit has not fully connected the dots.
The depth of what Solomon is saying in these two verses of Proverbs is brilliant. He got it right. The more I study Gods original design for everything, the more I marvel, adjust my lifestyle and align my life according to “His ways.” (Isaiah 55:6-13)
