The Blessings of True Wisdom and Understanding: Proverbs 3:13-18
“13) How blessed is the man who finds wisdom And the man who gains understanding. 14) For her profit is better than the profit of silver And her gain better than fine gold. 15) She is more precious than jewels; And nothing you desire compares with her. 16) Long life is in her right hand; In her left hand are riches and honor. 17? Her ways are pleasant ways And all her paths are peace. 18) She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, And happy are all who hold her fast.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3‬:‭13‬-‭18‬
Do you want Gods blessings in your life? In this context, many of them are conditional upon gaining true wisdom and understanding.
Its profits are better than silver, gold or precious jewels. She is more desirable than great wealth. No physical possession is more meaningful or fulfilling than godly wisdom.
I have desired many things in my life only to learn that once owned they give fleeting fulfillment. For many people, full garages and storage units prove that things do not provide lasting happiness or fulfillment.
The same is true for relationships, dreams and personal agendas. They can become pursuits in life that promise much but deliver little. Why? These do not satisfy the inner longing of the human heart.
This is not so with the wisdom and understanding based on a deepening relationship with God. It becomes a tree of life. The Spirit of God is like rivers of living waters flowing from deep within. (See John 7:37-37)
Even religion itself can leave you empty and sometimes hurt or wounded. In many cases religion is a cheap substitute for a genuine walk with God.
Only a right relationship with God based on faith in Jesus Christ can fill the inner void and satisfy the longing of the human soul. Many other things in life are a distraction, illusion or cheap substitute.
