Honor God From Your Wealth: Proverbs 3:9-10
“9) Honor the Lord from your wealth and from the first of all your produce; 10) So your barns will be filled with plenty and your vats will overflow with new wine.” Proverbs‬ ‭3‬:‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭
This principle is not about tithing, it’s about acknowledging and honoring God as your provider. It is sometimes expressed through tithing, but it is far more about worship.
God’s blessings show up in practical ways in our lives when we look to Him as our provider. According to the text, He in turn blesses us in our barns and our harvest. The return in agriculture was the way God blessed many in the Old Testament.
This was true of Job, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and many others. But He can bless in other forms of employment and income as well.
The principle is that He blesses us with abundance so we can become His channel of blessing to others. We are mere stewards of what He entrusts to us.
According to Solomon, giving should be an essential part of your investment strategy. There are manifold stories of God blessing His people abundantly when they honor Him from their wealth.
In Malachi 3:10, God actually invites us the test Him this matter. As provider, He can open the windows of heaven for us when we are faithful in honoring Him with our wealth.
