Meeting The God Who Heals:
“7) Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and turn away from evil. 8) It will be healing to your body And refreshment to your bones.” Proverbs 3:7-8
Aligning yourself with God and His ways is healthy. When Israel strayed from God, they picked up manifold sicknesses and diseases like those that plagued the pagan nations. When they returned to the ways of God, they were healed.
There are two reasons for this. First, the ways of God as laid out in the Law are healthy. From personal cleanliness to times of quarantine, Gods ways were healthy way before they were confirmed by the medical community.
This included the benefits of fasting, sexual fidelity in and before marriage, dietary principles and the timely removal of foods before they decayed. There are many more health benefits in the Law like taking a day of rest every week. Simply put, Gods ways are very healthy.
Second, in Exodus 15:26, God identified Himself as “Jehovah Rapha.” This names literally means “The Lord Who Heals You.” Isn’t that interesting?
According to 1 Peter 2:24, Peter understood that by the stripes of Jesus at the whipping post, we were healed. Healing is a fringe benefit of salvation. It removes guilt and condemnation, thereby boosting the natural immune system. It also introduces us to the supernatural God who heals. Jesus is the Great Physician.
Instead of being worldly wise about your health and suffering self inflicted physical illness and diseases, returning to God and healthy living is a pathway to healing. “8) It will be healing to your body and refreshment to your bones.” (Proverbs 3:8)
