Having God as Your Shield
“6) For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth comes knowledge and understanding. 7) He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk in integrity, 8) Guarding the paths of justice, And He preserves the way of His godly ones.” Proverbs‬ ‭2‬:‭6‬-‭8‬ ‭
Solomon now makes a noble statement. Those who seek God and follow His ways of wisdom, become men and women of integrity. He in turn watches over them like a shield.
He actively guards the paths of justice and watches over the way of His godly ones. There are tangible benefits to walking with God and building your life on His word and His ways.
This is true for both young and old. It is true for both man and woman. It is true for people of every nation, tribe and tongue who build a walk with God.
Paul said it well when writing to Timothy; “14) You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them, 15) and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16) All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17) so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy‬ ‭3‬:‭14‬-‭17‬)
Both the Old and the New Testament agree on the importance of building a Scripture based walk with God. He watches over those who love and honor Him. He is their shield and guardian.
