Gods Constant Protection and Provision: Psalm 121
“1) I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; From where shall my help come? 2) My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. 3) He will not allow your foot to slip; He who keeps you will not slumber. 4) Behold, He who keeps Israel Will neither slumber nor sleep. 5) The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade on your right hand. 6) The sun will not smite you by day, Nor the moon by night. 7) The Lord will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul. 8) The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in From this time forth and forever.” Psalms 121:1-8
This Psalm is a conscious dependency on God for His protection. His secret agents are constantly on duty. He does not slumber or sleep.
When read carefully, His protection is on every front and every form. He is able to guard from natural disaster and all evil. That includes from wicked men and evil spirits.
He will keep our soul. As Philippians 4:7 says, He will put a guard around our heart and mind. He can protect us from both raging emotions and racing thoughts.
The Lord will guard both our going out and our coming in. He keeps us in our travels and even opens providential doors. He is our protection.
Recently, I stumbled upon a list of seven common signs of angelic presence in our life. I pass them on because they exemplify this Psalm.
Common signs of Angelic Presence
Unexplainable peace during hard times Supernatural protection from harm, danger or attacks Sudden shift in spiritual atmosphere (Faith vs fear, light vs darkness, clarity vs confusion. (Saturated with the presence of God)) Unusual encounters or experiences that seem coincidental. The list includes financial provisions, divine orchestration, supernaturally moving people or resources in place. Increased spiritual discernment and sensitivity to the presence of God. (Sharpening of spiritual senses, keen recognition of the Holy Spirits promptings or attacks from the enemy. Angels partner with the Holy Spirit, they work in tandem) Enemies or Opposition backing down without explanation, plans against you fall apart… dismantled attacks of the enemies. Supernatural Favor … Doors open … favor is a spiritual force. People respond to your ideas (Daniel in Babylon, Joseph in Egypt.) Favor is not random, it is a gift.
Angels fulfill Gods Word. They are Gods secret agents working on our behalf. (See Hebrews 1:14) They are there for both protection and provision.
