The Miracle of Pruning
““1) I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2) Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit.” John‬ ‭15‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭
I am new to tree husbandry and pruning. Over the past several years I have planted a number of fruit trees.
My first was a cherry tree. I was scared to prune it. Soon it grew a bunch of stray shoots and went wild. I have never gotten any fruit from it.
Then I added some apple trees, peach and pear trees. After reading this text and watching some YouTube videos about pruning, late last fall I rolled up my sleeves and went to work.
Some of the older trees got serious pruning. The newer ones were also groomed. I felt bad. The trees looked empty. I thought I had ruined them.
This spring a miracle started happening. They blossomed like crazy. New branches miraculously appeared. The trees look fuller and healthier. It looks like a bumper crop is developing.
The Father is an experienced vinedresser. He prunes us to make us better and to bring out our full potential. He cuts away things that will hurt us in the long run.
Trust Him. He knows what He is doing. As you place yourself in His hands, you will start bearing amazing fruit.
