A Case For Supernaturalism
“1) In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis‬ ‭1‬:‭1‬
The Bible was written against the backdrop of supernaturalism. The very first verse introduces God. By definition “God” is supernatural.
He is eternal, all powerful, all knowing, all present and all knowing. He created everything.
According to Romans 1:20-21, this was the philosophical foundation of human civilization. As mankind drifted away from this knowledge of God, rapid moral and social decline followed.
History records many resets and returning to the fundamental knowledge of God. The flood of Noah’s day is a primary example.
The drift always includes replacing the truth about “God” with inferior religious systems and some form of humanism.
Let’s take a major leap forward and talk about the modern western church. How could the modern western church come to the hypothesis that “God no longer does miracles today.”
The answer is that supernaturalism has been replaced by naturalism. “God” has been sanitized and replaced by evolutionary naturalism.
So why doesn’t the western church experience many miracles today? The simple answer is that it no longer believers in a supernatural God who does miracles.
It has taken me years to recover from the theological naturalism propagated through the western church. My faith is growing immensely as I am rediscovering the supernatural God of the Bible.
