The Question:
“6) So when they had come together, they were asking Him, saying, “Lord, is it at this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?”” Acts 1:6
All of Israel had been waiting for the coming of the Messiah. They expected Him to sit on the throne of David and restore the kingdom. At the time, Israel was under Roman rule.
The disciples recognized Jesus was the Messiah. It was His death on the cross, burial and resurrection that was a mystery to them. They were focused on the timing of prophecy related to the coming kingdom.
The same question captures the minds of people today. When is Jesus going to return and set up His kingdom?
