My Favorite Psalm: Psalm 103
“1) Bless the Lord, O my soul, And all that is within me, bless His holy name. 2) Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget none of His benefits; 3) Who pardons all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases; 4) Who redeems your life from the pit, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion; 5) Who satisfies your years with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle. 6) The Lord performs righteous deeds And judgments for all who are oppressed.”
“He will not always strive with us, Nor will He keep His anger forever. He has not dealt with us according to our sins, Nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, So great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him. As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. Just as a father has compassion on his children, So the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.” Psalms 103:1-6; 9-13
Welcome to the second most favorite Psalm. It is barely eclipsed by Psalm 23. Suddenly, we have another Psalm written by David. I confess, this is my favorite Psalm.
It shows the grace, goodness, forgiveness and favor of God toward His people. There are more promises to claim in this Psalm than any other. It is packed with treasure.
Rather than steal its beauty, I encourage you to read these 22 verse through ten times. Read it a few times out loud. Read it with a highlighter in your hand. Commit this Psalm to memory.
Then when you finish the ten times, slow down and turn it into a personal praise and prayer. Let it be your guide to know God better.
Wrap your mind around verses 2-5. Focus intently on verses 11-13. Use verses 19-22 to imagine what heaven is like.
With that slight preview, I send you off on your own treasure hunt. Be ready to be richly blessed.
