The Finger Prints of God on the Lives of the Righteous: Psalm 86
“1) Incline Your ear, O Lord, and answer me; For I am afflicted and needy. 2) Preserve my soul, for I am a godly man; O You my God, save Your servant who trusts in You. 3) Be gracious to me, O Lord, For to You I cry all day long.
7) In the day of my trouble I shall call upon You, For You will answer me.”
10) “For You are great and do wondrous deeds; You alone are God.” Psalms‬ ‭86‬:‭1‬-‭3‬, ‭7‬, 10
Psalm 86 sets forth an interesting proposition; “There are measurable and tangible benefits to knowing and walking with God!” He alone is God and He works on behalf of those who seek Him and honor Him.
The book of Proverbs often makes this same point when it draws a sharp contrast between the righteous and the wicked. (See Proverbs 10-18) The two paths in life are very different. They produce radically different character and have different life outcomes.
Hebrews 11:6 says; “And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.” Then the author goes on to note the miraculous ways God worked in history through men and women of faith throughout history.
Psalm 86 is built on this same proposition! There are measurable and tangible benefits to walking with God. Every faithful believer is an exclamation point to this proposition. He leaves His fingerprints all over the lives of those who walk with Him.
