Usually news from Haiti is not good news. It shocks and burdens us, especially if you know about the wonderful work of GoServ Global with Eddy Constant in Les Cayes. I do not know anyone who feels the challenging environment of Haiti anymore than Ken DeYoung. He is constantly asking our Lord to protect the children and families at the various GoServ Global locations, and asking Him to provide the finances to keep the food coming and the ministries available to these communities.
Many of you know that the birth of GoServ Global came after Ken volunteered to fly medical supplies to Haiti following the 2010 earthquake. When Ken met Eddy and had his heart captured by the children of Haiti, God was stirring his heart to do more. In collaboration with Terry Baxter, a beautiful mission was formed.
Today, Ken is no longer regularly flying missions and mission teams into Haiti, with the turmoil making it impossible. But he and Conwell Larson are ready to go to Haiti this summer after a very long season of being unable to safely travel to Les Cayes. He remains ready and praying for the way to be cleared. They will renew relationships with many and evaluate the overall health and needs of our mission work in Haiti.
Ken keeps in constant contact with Eddy and others, but there is always a special feel when you can be there in person and connect with the people, the culture, and the beauty of the island. Seeing face to face your close friends and co-laborers of Christ’s mission cannot be matched.
Please pray for Ken and Jill DeYoung as they continue to pour their hearts into Haiti. Ken monitors the finances, the needs, and then continues to dream about all the hope that can be delivered to Haiti. We may ask why continue to invest in such a broken country? The answer is simply beautiful. If we do not help the children to find hope in our Lord Jesus Christ and then to live to change Haiti from the inside out, then they are without hope. Faith in Jesus Christ and a hope for a better and great future for Haitians is worth the investment. Especially when you meet all of those beautiful children in Les Cayes, Haiti.
