Kingdom Life and Dominion: Luke 17:20-21
“20) Now having been questioned by the Pharisees as to when the kingdom of God was coming, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God is not coming with signs to be observed; 21) nor will they say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or, ‘There it is!’ For behold, the kingdom of God is in your midst.”” Luke‬ ‭17‬:‭20‬-‭21‬ ‭
These verses hint at two aspects of the kingdom. Most people look for the coming of a literal kingdom over which the Messiah will rule. This is talked about in Scriptures like Acts 1:6-7 and Revelation 20:1-10. This is often called the millennial kingdom. The second coming of the Messiah will usher in this literal kingdom.
But kingdom principles, dynamics and dominion are already available spiritually through the Holy Spirit. Jesus currently rules and reigns in the world through His church. The kingdom of light is among us.
We can enter into the fulness of all blessings in heavenly places in Christ right now through faith. (See Ephesians 1:3) We don’t need to wait until the literal return of Christ to enter into the fulness of God. Kingdom blessings, authority and dominion are available to us through His Spirit right now.
This is the kingdom mystery Jesus was promising in these two verses. This is the amazing mystery Paul unpacked in Ephesians and Colossians. It is what Peter pointed to in 1 Peter 2:4-10 and 2 Peter 1:2-11.
The present kingdom life is the Zoe life so often promised in the New Testament. Take a few weeks and study the prayers of Paul for believers as recorded in Ephesians 1:15-23; 3:14-21; Colossians 1:9-20; and Philippians 1:9-11. Persevere until you are baptized with life in the Spirit.
Stop walking in the flesh and start living in the Spirit in the fulness of Kingdom Life. It is available and among us right now. It is currently spreading like a mighty wind around the world through the Holy Spirit.
