Here is a recap from camp! This was such an incredible 3 days, unforgettable really. We saw 60 students and their 12 leaders, not counting support staff, come together for breaking limits. They started off with a trot to camp, followed by an afternoon of wilderness survival. They had to build their own shelters and cook their own food. They surpassed our expectations, and built incredible shelters. The food challenge wasn’t a complete success, because the last hour of the challenge had pouring rain. But they stayed out and made the most of it. In fact, for many of the kids, being in the rain, tucked under their shelters, laughing and talking, was one of their all-time highlights from camp.
Everything they did at Camp had to be completed as a team, and many people learned the value and importance of working together. Another huge challenge was completing a nine part obstacle course as a team. It really moved me to see students rise up as encouragers, to motivate those who didn’t think they could do it. We later heard several students share that the obstacle course broke limits in their life as they never thought they could ever do anything like that.
Spiritual limits were broken as well! The themes had really do with overcoming the spirit of intimidation, based on 2nd Timothy 1 :6 and 7 and the spirit spirit that God has given us, one of power, love, and self control.
David preached for the first time since losing Wyatt, and shared how our faith and clinging to our conviction can get us through any challenge or limitations that come our way in life. It was very moving.
The other three sessions included spiritual boldness and courage, trusting God, and living faith out among their generation.
On Saturday night, the time of testimonies deeply moved our hearts. God brought freedom to many young people’s hearts, and broke limits of fear, insecurity, and intimidation. Many gave testimonies of no longer being afraid to trust God and their desire to live out their faith in a bold way.
Praise God!
When I asked Briel to summarize Camp She said: breaking limits and revival. Amen!
