Our God is so good and we need His abundant grace as various parts of the USA experience natural disasters. The GoServ Global Domestic Team spent most of the summer doing cleanup after the tornadoes in Pottawattamie County and then in Greenfield.  They are currently working in northwest Iowa, specifically Rock Valley, Sioux Rapids, and Spencer for flood cleanup, but many families and organizations are waiting due to various government agency’s requirements and decisions before moving forward.

This past week, Hurricane Helene devastated much of the southeast. Friends of GoServ Global in that region have asked for our help in rural Georgia, and we are responding to that with a small team of ambassadors going to support their effort as well. Please let us know if you can volunteer to help in Iowa or Georgia and we appreciate any financial gifts that you may be able to donate through GoServ Global to help our Domestic Team and to help our friends in Georgia.

Flood relief work continues in NW IOWA.

More to the story

Meet Rodney Miller ~~ some people might remember getting to meet Rodney at our Banquet this past May. When God put Small Town Big Deal hosts Jann Carl and Rodney Miller in our paths back in February 2023, we had no idea the things He had in store. Fast forward, Rodney and Jann have become valuable friends to the GoServ Global team, with Rodney building a Safe T Home® on his property in Georgia in hopes of spreading awareness of GoServ Global.

When our former Executive Director, Paul van Gorkom, moved out to South Carolina earlier in 2024, we celebrated how strategic it was for him and Rodney to be able to work together to build up the SE Chapter volunteer and donor connections. Now, we know it was for so much more than that. When Hurricane Helene landed in Georgia on September 26th, with winds reported at 140 MPH just 12 miles away from Rodney’s property. You can see here some of the damage. But looking at the Safe T Home® unit, all Paul could say was, “The Sukup Manufacturing Co. Safe T Home® has survived another hurricane.”

How is GoServ Global going to help?

We are not pulling out of flood relief efforts in NW Iowa, those will continue even while our team leaders are in Georgia.

Our Domestic Team has been deployed for months (since the end of April) for tornado and flood relief and cleanup. However, because of our connections and because of the need, Barb and Dennis plan to make a short trip to Georgia to help serve and organize in some of the more impoverished communities affected.

They are laying the groundwork as they have unique skills to help facilitate in the aftermath of a natural disaster. We are looking for volunteers in Georgia over the next few weeks, but we need donations to help cover shipping costs for supplies and to help cover the costs of equipment and travel.

You can learn more and stay updated by going to our Southeast Chapter page.

After the initial groundwork is done, Barb and Dennis will return to Iowa and continue with flood relief. If needed, there is a possibility of future serving in Georgia after some of the initial cleanup is done.

Southeast Chapter?

The intention of our Southeast Chapter Regional Director was never to have another branch of GoServ Global that functions separately, but rather to begin building a base of ambassadors of people who are passionate about GoServ Global. These ambassadors will help to get the name of GoServ Global out there in the SE region of the United States, inviting people to volunteer or give financially to the ministry of GoServ Global.

Our donors are spread out far and wide, and for some people Georgia is their neighbor, their backyard. Having our friends there and trying to help their communities opened the door for us to have a presence in the recovery and cleanup after Hurricane Helene, but we are not opening an office or hiring staff to run a branch there.
