The Outcome of Faith: Hebrews 11:29
“29) By faith they passed through the Red Sea as though they were passing through dry land; and the Egyptians, when they attempted it, were drowned.” Hebrews 11:29
We now have the story of Exodus 14 and the Red Sea dividing so the children of Israel could cross as on dry land. When the Egyptians attempted that same, the walls or water collapsed and they were drowned.
Though the whole book of Exodus is filled with acts of faith, this is the most profound because the whole nation of Israel had to walk through the Red Sea. They were all participants, there were no spectators.
Faith in God resulted in a supernatural miracle. It wasn’t faith that parted the Sea, it was God. Faith moves the hand that created the universe. Faith accesses the power of God. Faith is the key that unlocks the impossible. The people of God have options not available to the world.
Walking by faith is not normal, natural or logical. It listens to God, trusts God and obeys God in doing things not available to the natural man. Notice the emphasis on God. If He is not leading, initiating or working… the Sea is not going to part. If God did not show up, the Children of Israel were going swimming.
I maintain the focus of faith is not faith, rather it is God. If God does not work, faith is void.
Sometimes faith involves trusting in God even when the Sea does not part or the mountain does not move. Some of the examples of faith in Hebrews 11 believed in God without wavering and as a result endured great persecution and suffering. They believed in God without receiving a miracle. By faith they were given the grace to endure.
I don’t know what your faith journey will look like, but I know it must be focused on Jesus Christ. The key of faith is not a “what”, it is a “Who.” It doesn’t focus on the Sea that parts or the mountain that moves, it focuses on the One who parts the Sea or moves the mountain. Biblical faith by definition is anchored in God. The outcomes of faith is walking through the sea on dry land.
