The Immutability of God: Hebrews 13:8
“8) Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8
God will never change. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. In theology, this is called “immutability.” He is unchanging over time and unable to be changed. He is holy, loving, righteous, just and good. His character does not change.
James 1:16-17 captures this thought; “16) Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. 17) Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.” He is absolutely consistent. You can count on Him to keep His Word, be consistent and not vacillate.
He is the rock you can build your life on. (See Matthew 7:24-27) Truth does not change. He is the anchor and basis of truth. He is the solid rock in the shifting sands of human morals and society. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
