Sexual Exploitation: 2 Timothy 3:6-7
“6) For among them are those who enter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses, 7) always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” 2 Timothy 3:6-7
The last days will be accompanied by spiritual leaders who will use their office to sexually exploit women. Rather than promoting a call to moral freedom, sanctification and holiness, they will use their office to take advantage of vulnerable people. They will be like the sons of Eli as recorded in 1 Samuel 2:12-17 who used their office for seduction.
When this verse is viewed in the context, it appears that the religious system will actually promote and condone sexual sins. This is not a case of sincere people being tempted, it is actually the twisting of biblical morality to accept and approve all forms of sexual pleasure. It is the redefining of human sexuality under the mantle of the church.
They are lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God. They hold to a form of godliness, but deny its power. They are always learning, but never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Note that it is not merely society that has become immoral, rather an apostate church is at the helm of the decline.
This is very descriptive of our day. Many liberal denominations are leading the charge of promoting and legitimizing sexual sins. People from the LGBQT community are being accepted, normalized and ordained as pastors. Many evangelical churches no longer take a stand against Christians living together in open fornication.
When sin is no longer preached against or even acknowledged, the gospel is void because there remains nothing to repent from. For these people, sound biblical teaching becomes a hate crime.
Make no mistake, Jesus came to seek and save the lost, but when he found them He said; “go and sin no more.” (John 8:11) He pointed people to forgiveness and moral freedom and not into deeper sinful bondage.
