Free From Fear: Hebrews 2:14-15
“14) Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, 15) and might free those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives. Hebrews‬ ‭2:14-15‬
Just as the serpent entered the Garden of Eden with a mission to deceive and enslave humanity, so Jesus entered the Garden of Gethsemane with a mission to destroy the works of the devil. He was there as a man to render the devil powerless and break his grip of fear on humanity.
The fear of death is plague common to all people. It is the basis of slavery. Jesus broke it’s power. Through death He brought salvation and freedom. He defeated death and removed the sting of sin. (See 1 Corinthians 15:55-58)
Fear need not control your life. Because of what Jesus did on the cross, you can be governed by faith. It has been said; “Fear knocked on the door, faith answered… and no one was there!”
Isn’t it time to start living by faith in the victory of Christ rather than fear? Jesus defeated sin and death. You can be free from fear.
