Faith Journey and Divine Destiny: Hebrews 11:24-26
“24) By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, 25) choosing rather to endure ill-treatment with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, 26) considering the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he was looking to the reward. 27) By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured, as seeing him who is unseen.” Hebrews 11:24-26
We need to careful with these verses, because they happened before Moses had his burning bush experience. It appears that faith was working in Moses before Moses really turned his life over to God in a deep and personal way.
His decision to leave the palace one day and go into the field to visit his brethren was providential. His decision to defend a fellow Hebrew from the beating of an Egyptian was providential. His decision to flee from Egypt was providential.
I believe God starts working in people before they understand what’s happening. When they are still far away, the Holy Spirit begins His work of drawing them to the cross. For Moses, that journey eventually led him to the burning bush where God personally revealed Himself and issued a call on his life.
But the entire time it appears that Moses had a sense of Divine Destiny on his life. He did his best to follow that inner compass of faith until He stood face to face with God on holy ground. It was at that point that the prayers of his parents were fully realized.
But the time came when Moses had a personal encounter with God. I believe it was at the burning bush that true conversion happened in Moses. Something transformational happened at that point. A personal relationship with God was birthed at that point.
