The Beautiful Woman: Proverbs 11:22
“22) As a ring of gold in a swine’s snout So is a beautiful woman who lacks discretion. Proverbs 11:22
Solomon was very blunt. A beautiful woman who lacks discretion is a tragedy. Her self vanity would be like putting a ring of gold in a swine’s snout. It does nothing to change the character and conduct of the unclean animal. The gold ring would be wasted.
He is not saying that beauty is a negative thing. To the contrary, it is a wonderful gift that must be crowned with dignity and wisdom. When they all come together there is the making of the crown of Gods creation.
It takes time for this kind of beautification. Jesus is coming back for a bride and not a groom. (See Ephesians 5:25-27)
