Wise Guidance: Proverbs 11:14
“14) Where there is no guidance the people fall, But in abundance of counselors there is victory.” Proverbs 11:14
No person left to themself is inherently good. They will drift toward depravity left over from the fall. Sin is a magnet on every human soul. The same is true for human culture and civilization. (Read Romans 1:18-32)
It takes instruction and training to impart positive character qualities. In the abundance of counselors there is victory. The book of Proverbs was written for this purpose.
But don’t make the mistake of assuming that goodness of character is the same as salvation. There are many good, honest and upright people who do not know Jesus. Salvation is not earned by being good, it is a gift given to those who place faith in Jesus Christ and are thus born-again. They have the indwelling Holy Spirit as their Counselor.
But by all means, it is better when good, upright and God fearing people reign. The moral drift can happen quickly when the moral standard of the Ten Commandments are tossed aside.
