The Damage of the Talebearer: Proverbs 11:13
“13) He who goes about as a talebearer reveals secrets, But he who is trustworthy conceals a matter.” Proverbs 11:13
The trustworthy person does not repeat slanderous stories. These stories end up being spiced with lies, exaggerations and unfounded details.
This is why some trials seek a change of venue because it is impossible to find an unbiased jury. The longer and further a story spreads, the more exaggerated and distorted it becomes.
The trustworthy person does not repeat a matter. He or she waits for truth to prevail. They don’t make judgement calls or decide on a story or a persons character based on the court of public opinion or campaign slander.
Pray, wait, listen, learn and remain silent. As soon as you repeat a matter your soul is tainted. You are no longer neutral.
