The Plight of the City: Proverbs 11:10
“10) When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices, And when the wicked perish, there is joyful shouting.” Proverbs 11:10
When the righteous rule, there comes times of peace and prosperity. It might take some time to settle in depending on previous conditions. It took time for David’s Kingdom to be established. The end result was freedom for all. Favor and blessings settled over the whole kingdom. The city did much rejoicing. When a righteous ruler dies, there is much mourning.
When the wicked rule, the opposite happens. There comes times of abuse, oppression and heart ache. Corruption abounds. The tyranny often doesn’t end until the wicked ruler dies. When the oppressor dies, there is much rejoicing in the city. History is full of examples.
