A Shocking Contrast: Proverbs 10:27-32
“27) The fear of the Lord prolongs life, But the years of the wicked will be shortened. 28) The hope of the righteous is gladness, But the expectation of the wicked perishes. 29) The way of the Lord is a stronghold to the upright, But ruin to the workers of iniquity. 30) The righteous will never be shaken, But the wicked will not dwell in the land. 31) The mouth of the righteous flows with wisdom, But the perverted tongue will be cut out. 32) The lips of the righteous bring forth what is acceptable, But the mouth of the wicked what is perverted.” Proverbs 10:27-32
When these six verses are taken together, they paint a shocking contrast between the righteous and the wicked. They play out over time.
As time passes and momentum builds, the gap between the righteous and the wicked becomes wider and wider. As you compare them verse by verse, it becomes very instructive.
Let me suggest an enlightening study. Take a piece of paper and draw a line down the center. Place the benefits of the righteous in the left column and the calamity of the wicked in the right. Soon you will set back and gasp.
If you want to see the bigger picture, do this with the whole book of Proverbs. There is a huge difference between the two.
After even a few chapters, you will see people and society through totally different lenses. You will gain wisdom, understanding, insight and discernment. It will radically influence your path in life. It will equip you to give wise counsel.
