Soul Junk Feeds Foolish Lips: proverbs 10:18
“18) He who conceals hatred has lying lips, And he who spreads slander is a fool.” Proverbs 10:18
Hatred is cancer of the soul. It is closely related to anger and bitterness. You can try to hide them, but eventually your speech will give you away. Lying lips cannot conceal them forever.
They feed gossip, slander and false witness. In Matthew 15:17-20; Jesus said that what fills the heart eventually seeps out of the mouth. The starting point for cleaning up the mouth is cleansing your heart.
Earlier in this chapter, Solomon said; “… with the mouth of the foolish, ruin is at hand.” (Proverbs 10:14) The problem is that hurt and offended people seldom go to the person who offended them, they run and talk to everyone else. They spread their bitterness and defile many. (Hebrews 12:14-16)
I confess, I avoid angry and bitter people. They are contagious. I cannot afford to take on their pathetic soul junk. They need to repent and get right with God and others. This is the only hope and cure for them.
