Week in Haiti
What an amazing week in Haiti. I was able to preach at the Village of Hope Church last Sunday. That was the first village we built after the big earthquake fifteen years ago. There is a vibrant congregation there in the church.
Monday I was invited to minister at the pastor training school in the afternoon. Because of the heat, 60 pastors in training met under a huge mango tree at the consolation center. It was amazing.
Tuesday and Wednesday we drove almost two hours and I was able to give four sessions at a different pastors conference. They picked the theme; “Let us rise up and Build” from the book of Nehemiah. The pastors were greatly encouraged. Haiti is a very difficult place right now. The only light of hope is in the churches and Christian Schools.
Then, I was invited my final night to preach at an evangelistic crusade held on a soccer field in a region surrounded by twelve VooDoo temples. The crusade actually runs through this Sunday evening.
Prayer warriors from participating churches surrounded the perimeter of the field 20 yards apart. The stage and sound system was so big the music and message could be heard for a mile.
About 300 people attended the crusade. It had grown about 20% from the first night. They expect it to build each night.
The Holy Spirit led me to preach on Mark 5 and Jesus delivering the man with a legion of demons. Something had gone terribly wrong in his life. He was being tormented day and night, but Jesus saved him, delivered him and sent him out to tell his story.
The message was uniquely aimed at the crowd in that region of Haiti. I was flooded with requests to stay and preach each evening through Sunday. It would have been so fun, but return air flights are very hard to book on short notice.
Instead, we are planning ahead for next year with a Freedom Quest Workshop during the morning and afternoon and an evangelistic crusade in the evening. Hopefully we can go back to the same location.
The crusade wasn’t on my schedule when we arrived in Haiti. It was like putting a cherry on the final night of the trip. It just doesn’t get much better than unleashing to power of Jesus Christ on the front lines against our defeated foe.
Right now we are sitting at the airport in Dallas, Texas waiting for our flight to Des Moines.
Keep in mind, September 10-12, I am putting on the Freedom Quest Workshop in Sumner, Iowa and then it off to Tanzania to conduct two Freedom Quest Workshops in the outback.
We still need sponsors for these pastors. We are about 20% funded at this point.
Let me share a quote from our YWAM host taking registrations for these events; “We are excited and continue working the most preparation for the two conference here, we have closed registration for both places on 220 and 230 respectively! The pastors are so excited!” This is 50 more than we planned.
The rural regions where we are going in Tanzania represent the hot bed of witchcraft. The pastors and Christian leader are eager to get solid biblical training. Each training session is four days long. Please consider sponsoring a pastor or group of pastors for this vital training.
