Allies and Enemies in Life: Proverbs 8:12-13
““12) I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, And I find knowledge and discretion. 14) The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverted mouth, I hate.” Proverbs 8:12-13
Wisdom has some consistent allies. These two verses mention a few of them. Among them are prudence, knowledge, discretion and the fear of the Lord. These are qualities not often mentioned in modern society, but they put the student at the head of the class and the worker on the top of the promotion list.
Wisdom also has some long standing enemies. Many are listed in the book of Proverbs. This context looks at four of them. They are pride, arrogance, the evil way and the perverted mouth. These always stand in opposition to godly wisdom.
It is important to define who you are and what you stand for as you navigate through life. It is equally important to define who you are not and what you will avoid and shun in life. These two verses are a good starting point!
