The Power of the Tongue: Proverbs 4:24
“24) Put away from you a deceitful mouth And put devious speech far from you.” Proverbs‬ ‭4‬:‭24‬ ‭
Be very careful what you say, your words have a way of shaping events in your life. Speak truth in love. Don’t let lies or deception become part of your thinking, self perception or conversations. Every cell in your body is in tune with your voice. If you talk about being sick your body will accommodate.
According to the New Testament, your speech can build up or tear down. It can edify others or fill them with discouragement. Your words can impart grace or steal hope. Use your words to bless and not curse.
You are the most influential prophetic voice in your own life. I was previously skeptical of this notion, but not anymore. Scripture is full of the power of words and cautions about deceptive and negative speech.
Faith is expressed through words. Fear is expressed through words. Slow down and weigh your words before engaging your tongue. Take time and study James chapter three. It has radically influenced my understanding of this subject.
Solomon understood the power of the tongue. Proverbs 4:24 is a brief preview of this subject.
