Guard Your Heart: Proverbs 4:23
“Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life.” Proverbs 4:23
Be diligent to guard your heart. The world, the flesh and the devil are in allegiance together to defile, corrupt and pollute your heart.
They will fill you with lies and deception. Then they will hurt and wound you and whisper that you’ve got the right to be angry and bitter.
The entire time they will spread the subtle lie that it is all God’s fault and that you cannot trust Him. They will point you down the road of rebellion and self will.
As you head in that direction, you will be inundated with a new influence. Lusts, fantasies and immoral temptations will call after you. They will pursue you. They will try to allure you into the trap of sexual immorality.
This trap has a close companion called alcohol and chemical addiction. They will promise to take away your pain and sorrow. The only problem is that they want to make you a slave and ruin your life.
Then they will sprinkle your path with materialism, greed, false success and the pursuit of wealth. Pride and greed will twist your heart into worshipping self.
Most will fail and give way to these temptations. Then starts the plaguing guilt and condemnation. Thoughts of being a failure will overwhelm you with shame and remorse. Then the demon of self destruction will begin to speak.
With each piece of ground you yield, the unseen enemy builds a stronghold in your heart. At this point you suddenly wake up and realize you are a slave to sin and Satan.
There is only one way to freedom and forgiveness. Jesus Christ came to redeem sinful and lost people and to destroy the works of the devil.
Through sincere repentance and simple faith in Jesus Christ, a process of regeneration starts. The Holy Spirit will begin working in your life and giving you a new heart. The Bible calls this being born-again. Walking with Jesus is the pathway to a new heart and a new life.

Years ago I made Jesus Christ Lord of my heart. He has forgiven me for much and spared me from immeasurably more. Better yet, rivers of life now flow from my innermost being. It can happen for you as well!
