The Path of Light and Darkness: Proverbs 4:18-19
“18) But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, That shines brighter and brighter until the full day. 19) The way of the wicked is like darkness; They do not know over what they stumble.” Proverbs 4:18-19
Solomon now makes a comparison between two paths. The path of the righteous is like the light of dawn. It keeps getting brighter and brighter until it is like mid day.
I liken this to 1 John 1:5-7.; “God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.” Those who walk with Him become like Him. They shine like children of light.
But the way of the wicked are like darkness. They do not know over what they stumble. The kingdom of darkness enfolds then. Their life gets darker and darker.
One of Gods first acts of creation was to separate light and darkness. (Genesis 1:3-4) So it is with the born-again believer, the Holy Sprit begins to separate light from darkness. At the moment of salvation the new believer is transferred from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light. (See Colossians 1:12-13)
This comparison of light and darkness runs through the entire Bible. Gods people are always associated with light. As you walk with Jesus, you will become the light of the world.
