The Tragic Path of the Wicked: Proverbs 4:14-17
“14) Do not enter the path of the wicked And do not proceed in the way of evil men. 15) Avoid it, do not pass by it; Turn away from it and pass on. 16) For they cannot sleep unless they do evil; And they are robbed of sleep unless they make someone stumble. 17) For they eat the bread of wickedness And drink the wine of violence.” Proverbs‬ ‭4‬:‭14‬-‭17‬
These are amazing verses! It is not enough to walk in the good path of the just, you need to avoid the bad path of the wicked. Do not take a step down it. Do not enter the path of the wicked. Why?
You can be snared by sin and wickedness. Their allusion of happiness and prosperity can entice you, but it is a lie!
Their sleep is disturbed unless they do evil. They are robbed of sleep unless they make someone stumble. They feed on wickedness and drink violence. They are bent toward evil. It becomes their nature. Demons whisper in their ears throughout the night.
But here is the problem, once sin in any area is awakened within you, then you also will awaken an inner monster. It will dig its claws into your soul. Your inner fallen nature is not immune to the allure of sin. So what is the safe guard?
Don’t even go close to the path of the wicked. Avoid it! Do not pass by. Prevention protects a clear conscious and guards inner peace.
Later in life Solomon went down many wrong paths. He never again regained his innocence. His soul was tormented to the day of his death. The book of Ecclesiastes records his battle. His story is sad and tragic.
