An Abomination to the Lord: Proverbs 3:31-32
“31) Do not envy a man of violence And do not choose any of his ways. 32) For the devious are an abomination to the Lord; But He is intimate with the upright.” Proverbs 3:31-32
Though wicked and violent men can gain wealth, their illusionary gain is by fraud and the exploration of others. Do not be like them.
Being devious applies to a multitude of people. It includes the drug dealer, the pimp, the cartel leader, the dishonest auto mechanic, the white color embezzler and the crooked politician. It also includes the list and the shop lifter. These people wear many different shoes and dress in many different outfits.
They end up provoking the Lord to anger. They are an abomination to Him. That is a very strong phrase. He is against them. At some point their evil ways come back upon them. If not here in this life, they will face a harsh reality at the Judgement seat of Christ.
Eternity in hell is a very long time. It is longer and much worse than what they put their victims through here in this life. Jesus warned much about the eternal fate of the ungodly.
“But He is intimate with the upright.” Can you imagine? I would rather enjoy intimate fellowship and communion with God, than have all the treasures of the wicked combined. As Paul said in Philippians 3:8-10, knowing Christ is a surpassing value.
