Gods Secret Agents: Hebrews 1:14
“14) Are they not all ministering spirits, sent out to render service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?” Hebrews 1:14
Hebrews chapter one closes with an insightful statement about angels. They are “ministering spirits, sent out to render service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation.” They are Gods unseen and often silent agents that give protection and sometimes guidance to Christians.
This verse is partially where the concept of “Guardian Angels” come from. Jesus mentioned in Matthew 18:10 that His little children have angels watching over them.
The Bible actually talks at great length about angels. They are very active in the world around us. “Coincidence” often gets credited for work that angels most likely are responsible for performing. There primary role is most likely protection.
Hebrews 13:2 returns to the theme of angels and says that some have most likely entertained angels without knowing it. The key to keep in mind is that they are servants of Christ and do not draw attention to themselves.
Colossians 2:18 warns about any angelic activity that becomes self glorious. Satan’s workers like to disguise themselves as angels of light to mislead and deceive people. (See 2 Corinthians 11:13-15) Never let an angel establish a “guardian spirit” role in your life. This is most likely demonic activity.
I have heard many stories over the years of Gods Divine protection. It is comforting that God does not abandon His own in this wicked world. His plans and purposes are always fulfilled.
